The 21 Taras Exhibition is a project of Tara Institute, a Buddhist Centre based in Brighton East.
Tara Institute was founded by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche in 1975.
Lama Zopa Rinpoche gifted The 21 Taras Thangka to Tara Institute in 2017. It was painted by Peter Isely in Italy over 4 years.
Lama Zopa’s wish is that the Thanka be exhibited to the public as a specific blessing for all who see it — humans and animals.
Over the past few years, these giant sized paintings have been exhibited by Rinpoche’s students with great celebrations in about a dozen countries.
The 21 Taras Thangka is the largest that Rinpoche has so far commissioned.
The objective of this website is to facilitate the mounting of the first such celebration and public exhibition. The aim is to make this an annual event. We hope you will join us.
